Returning Home

On May the 8th, 1945 the Allies accepted the unconditional surrender of Germany. Bill, along with his squadron, were getting ready to ship off to the Pacific Theatre.

Shortly thereafter, the war ended, and he returned home when the war concluded. Bill hosted another dinner for his friends returning from the war. Every man survived fighting for his country, and the seven pieces of the bill were reunited.

Bill started dating the love of his life, Ruth Jones, in 1946 and they were married on May 8th, 1948 - the same day as Ruthie’s parents’ 25th wedding anniversary. They were happily married for 68 years, and had Kimi in 1949, and Jannie in 1952.
